Short version: AR ARTIST runs entirely in your browser. We have no accounts, we don’t ask for your name, and the photos and videos you capture stay on your own device unless you choose to save or share them. We never receive a copy.
AR ARTIST is a web page that applies augmented reality effects (“Lenses”) to your device’s live camera, using Snap Inc.’s Camera Kit technology. There is no app to install and no sign-up.
The experience needs access to your camera, and to your microphone if you record video with sound. Your browser will ask your permission first, and you can refuse or revoke it at any time in your browser or device settings — the page simply stops showing a camera feed.
Camera and microphone data is used only to render the AR effect on your screen while the page is open. We do not record, transmit, or store your camera or microphone feed.
When you tap to take a photo or hold to record a video, the file is created locally in your browser. It is shown to you for preview and is discarded when you close or retake it. Choosing “Save”, “Share”, or “Download” hands the file to your own device or to whichever app you pick from your device’s share sheet. Those captures are never uploaded to us.
The AR effects are provided by Snap Inc. To deliver them, the Camera Kit software in this page communicates with Snap’s servers to download Lens content and, as described in Snap’s documentation, to report anonymised usage, performance, and diagnostic metrics. Snap’s handling of that data is governed by Snap’s own terms:
Before you use a Lens for the first time, Camera Kit shows you Snap’s terms of service notice and asks you to accept it. If you decline, Lenses will not run.
This site is served by our web host, which keeps standard server access logs (including IP address, timestamp, and requested page) for security and troubleshooting. We do not use analytics or advertising trackers, and we do not set cookies to identify you.
AR ARTIST is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Because we hold no account and no captures, there is generally nothing of yours for us to retrieve or delete. You can revoke camera and microphone permission at any time in your browser settings. If you have a question or a request about privacy, contact us using the details below.
